Gli Unmade Bed nascono come prosecuzione del progetto My Best Friend’s Birthday. Questi ultimi nascono nel novembre 2004 per iniziativa di Lorenzo Gambacorta, già batterista degli Easycure, cover band ufficiale italiana dei Cure. Gambacorta decide di fondare un gruppo che rispecchi le sue tendenze e gusti, dalla psichedelia ‘60ies di gruppi come Pink Floyd, Blossom Toes, Twink, allo Shoegaze dei My Bloody Valentine, al lo-fi pop sghembo di gruppi come Pavement e Further. L’intento che nasce con gli anni, è quello di “fondare” un pop che racconti il sogno e il ricordo, dal punto di vista favolistico e morboso del perenne intrappolato nella “linea d’ombra”, nell’incapacità o involontà di crescere; pop perché mai dimentico della melodia, chiave dell’universalità, ma pop anche nel senso di parola “aperta”, che tutto può voler dire, quindi anche musica in perenne ricerca e movimento. A Gambacorta si uniscono inizialmente Tommaso Trogu al basso e Claudio Gattini alla batteria. Dopo una serie di Demo autoprodotti, nell’estate del 2006 Tommaso Trogu lascia il gruppo. A sostituirlo qualche mese dopo subentra Tommaso Tombelli, che per le sue tendenze e esperienze precedenti porta nel gruppo un gusto molto affine al post-rock di Mogwai, Explosions in the sky, 65 Days Of Static contribuendo in maniera determinante ad allargare le coordinate dello stile del gruppo. Nell’aprile 2007 infine, si unisce finalmente al gruppo il quarto elemento cercato lungamente: Vincenzo Zingaro alle chitarre, synth, tastiere, elettronica ed arrangiamenti orchestrali. Zingaro è reduce da un'esperienza musicale come synthman e fonico per un gruppo pop-sperimentale ("Cpt. Nice") e porta nel sound della compagine influenze che vanno dai Devo ai Doves passando per Radiohead, Einsturzende Neubauten, Kraftwerk, Air e addirittura Lee Morgan; il suo ingresso segna, a sua volta, un cambiamento tale che il gruppo decide di cambiare nome: nascono cosi gli Unmade Bed. Nel settembre 2007, dopo un intenso lavoro di cinque mesi, gli Unmade Bed esordiscono con un EP autoprodotto, il primo ad uscire dalla sfera “privata” data la consapevolezza di aver raggiunto uno stile proprio e unico. A seguito quasi immediatamente, l’incontro con la Seahorse Recordings: gli Unmade bed entreranno in studio di registrazione a luglio 2008 per il primo disco in uscita entro la fine del prossimo anno.

Unmade Bed was born as follower of "My Best Friend's Birthday" project. "My Best Friend's Birthday" born in November 2004 thanks to Lorenzo Gambacorta who already was drummer for "The Easycure", official Italian "The Cure"'s cover band. Gambacorta decides to create a band that could mirror his own musical influences and tastes, from the '60es psychedelia of bands such as Pink Floyd, Blossom Toes, Twink...to My Bloody Valentine's Shoegaze and Pavement's and Further's weird "lo-fi pop".
The objective, risen up after years, is to create a kind of pop that could evocate dream and remembrance from the "fabulous" point of view of the "shadow's line", a pop that could tale about the impossibility or non-desire to grow up; "pop" because never missing about melody, key to everyone, "pop" even in the meaning of "open word" it has, a word that is capable to say anything also in music were it's translated as "continuous research". The first ones to join Gambacorta's project were Tommaso Trogu at the bass and Claudio Gattini at drums. After few demo-cds, produced in the summer of 2006, Tommaso Trogu leaves the band; some months after this the name of the new bassist is Tommaso Tombelli who, thanks to his previous musical experiences and tastes, brings up in the band some influences that pay tribute to Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky and 65 Days Of Static's "post-rock" helping the band to enlarge and improve its sound horizons.
In April 2007 it's the time of Vincenzo Zingaro, the "so-long-desired" fourth element, that joins the band at guitars, synthesizers, keyboards, electronics and orchestral arrangements. Zingaro is comig from a previous experience as synthman and sound engineer with an experimental-pop band ("Cpt. Nice") and brings in the band musical influences that go from Devo to Doves passing through Radiohead, Einsturzende Neubauten, Kraftwerk, Air and even Lee Morgan; his entrance causes, in his own, a change so strong to lead the band to change its name: so "Unmade Bed" were born. In September 2007, after 5 months of intense work, Unmade Bed release a self-produced EP, the first to exit from the "private sphere" due to the consciousness of having reached a unique and original sound style. "The Narrow Room EP" gains quite immediately interest and "success" and in October 2007 Unmade Bed sign a contract for "Seahorse Recordings". Unmabe Bed will enter the recording studio in July 2008 for their first LP with Seahorse Recordings which will be released for the end of 2008.
