Kiddycar

PRESENTAZIONE “KIDDYCAR”

“KIDDYCAR” PRESENTATION
“Kiddycar is a place where sound assumes silence without being depleted by it...”
Suspended in the fine web of an electro-acoustic pop with an intimate and intense stamp, Kiddycar’s sound world oscillates between the warm colours of pop and the enigmatic shadows of an astral rock – dramatic, yet always tending to slide into the soft and curiously light; poised between airy, swaying melodies and darker veins – between existential lyrics, at times nihilistic, at times childishly wide open to images of dawn where life reawakens.
Suggestions, nuances, passages, landscapes, the voices of existence brought into being by a single female voice that lightly traces the confines, and then with the same delicacy invades them, crossing frontiers from one dimension into another...
A compact whole, childlike and dramatic, delicate and powerful, profound and gentle... a complex, varied world where sounds, atmospheres and contents fall like gentle snow, covering, confounding and restoring a mysterious and dense compactness to the whole.

Kiddycar "Forget About" Seahorse 2007

Reviews: ..................................................."Forget About"....................................................

HANNO DETTO DEI KIDDYCAR

Su “FORGET ABOUT”

INDIE-EYE

E' neve sporca quella che cade copiosa nota dopo nota, ovattando e (de)stabilizzando i nostri (in)sicuri approdi dell'anima.

– ROCKIT

HANNO DETTO DEI KIDDYCAR:

Su “HOW THIS WORD RESOUNDS”

How This Word Resound" affiora.

Note, sospiri, sussurri e lacrime leggere, sorrisi e tiepidi desideri raccontati con eleganza, compostezza e dolcezza è quanto fruisco da questo How this Word Resounds. WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT KIDDYCAR AND...

FORGET ABOUT

Kiddycar is a child’s gaze that has settled on music. It is the innocent, easy-going approach of four Italian musicians who take varied, heterogeneous and versatile backgrounds and synthesize them into a new sound that is simultaneously inviting and delicate, electronic and acoustic. It is an approach focused on experimentation, on avant-garde and classical music, on the subtle balance of the experiences of four educated and curious minds. MTV (which featured them for two weeks on their Home Page column Let’s Bet On...).

Floating somewhere between Kazu Machine of the Misery is a Butterfly period, Dummy by Beth Gibbons of Portishead, and Louise Rhodes of Lamb, but Valentina Cidda’s voice has nothing to fear from these Nineties recordings. – RUMORE (October 2007)

The well-orchestrated romanticism of Time would be enough to convince even sceptics about the quality of Kiddycar’s music. A personal sound that knows how to take in equal measure from the Arctic melancholy of Mum, Maximilian Hecker’s self-written, heart-rending work, and the timeless pop of Serge Gainsbourg. – ROCKERILLA (October 2007)

The electronics are carefully administered, never a simple support for the arrangements and never solely instrumental colour, the pop vein intrigues and captivates, at times breaking out in these original songs by the group... a fine disc, well played and well produced. And above all, well written. – IL MUCCHIO

The acoustic parts elegantly partner the electronics, creating a sound that if on the one hand is characterized by the angular tones of electronic music, on the other is softened by the delicate acoustic that gives the disc an atmosphere of whispered sweetness, but always dramatically charged and loaded with an emotional intensity that rarely fades while listening. – ROCKLINE

An undeniable ability that is expressed on many levels and through many strategies, at times reminiscent of Anglo-Saxon pop over the last decade, but which frees itself of any superficial definition due to a noteworthy power of synthesis and an ability in terms of orchestration that is certainly very rare. – INDIE-EYE

It’s soiled snow and it falls heavily, note by note, muffling and (de)stabilizing our soul’s (un)certain point of arrival. It’s the black and white of life, it’s the awareness that Human Logic “...is wrong...”. – ROCKSHOCK

Forget About is the stylistic synthesis of a strongly cohesive and self-assured group, one that breathes and restores crystalline class. – KRONIC

Their spirit is pop, but their gift is never to make it banal. The common trait that unites and sustains the way the tracks flow is Cidda’s voice, or rather her way of singing: a delicate voice, November-like, enhanced by a slight veiled softness that coats its clarity and which emerges in the more whispered tracks like Can I have your desert please? but especially in Ame et peau, the sensual and reflective existential pearl of the disc. – MESCALINA

The official sound track for the autumn ahead... – SENTIREASCOLTARE

Forget About is a consistent and modern first album... Kiddycar is a band to listen to and Forget About a disc that earns its place with class and intelligence in the front line of new productions. – MUSICBOOM

The solutions the band adopts for the arrangements of their own ballads, which are vaguely unsettling and offbeat, often brings them close to such continental music as Mum and B. Fleischman (as well as all the dark and bleak side of Morr Music), and at times to the moodiest of trip hop. – ONDAROCK

The music that issues from Forget About is the intimate sound track of a metropolitan dream buried in dew-drenched petals; it’s your gaze out of the window as you try to convince yourself that the world resembles you in some small way, before accepting that it hardly ever does. Valentina’s voice is always soft, magically subdued and monochord, a last breath that blurs the window separating us from the world. – LOST HIGHWAYS

Flowers that carpet tunnels. Journeys in a pedal-car, colouring with lightness and small details in order to give meaning to an otherwise absurd existence. Acoustic and electronic together and in a whisper. With the microfilm-like suggestion of rarefied lunar bases. It is as subtle if listened to absent-mindedly as it is intimate and osmotic if the barriers are lowered and you lengthen your gaze. – ROCKIT

WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT KIDDYCAR AND…
HOW THIS WORD RESOUNDS

Each track paints a landscape and tells a story without ever raising its voice or scratching the canvas, alternating moments of darkness with patches of light, tenderness, joy and uneasiness. Excellent like the first disc Forget About, confirming the positive criticism received, leaves positive expectations for future music by this band. – MUSIC BOOM

The voices of Christian Rainer and Valentina Cidda are intriguingly complementary, as is the combination of guitar and keyboards, brass and piano, fleeting electronics and frugal percussion. Chirps and squeaks between guitars that roar a rusty solitude, as if issuing from the last romantic on the face of the earth. A small, great disc. – SENTIREASCOLTARE

The Christmas present of an international artist and the group Kiddycar, from Arezzo, that once again distinguish themselves for their sensitivity and musical choices after their fine first album Forget About, for that measured alchemy of suffused passions that blossoms in every track of How This Word Resounds.
An important indie-pop record? I would say better than that: it will become important for whoever listens to it, because the sustaining piano, the warm rough voice of Rainer and the sweet, little girl’s voice of Valentina Cidda pass by osmosis from the record to the listener like the scent on a pillow of the lover who no longer sleeps with you, but who always seems to still be there. – ROCKIT

Two ways of understanding the art of music: sharing their experiences and points of view, fusing themselves in a remarkable way to form what will be one of the first titles of the year to put on the list of the best: the little jewel How The Word Resounds. Songs wrapped in a soft covering of velvet wisdom, that inhabit enchanting duets – in French and English – able to express joy (Birthday Song), fatalism (Elsewhere) and incredible intimacy (Le Temps de Noircir). – ROCKSHOCK
